Eduard Artemyev

Eduard Artemyev is a Soviet and Russian composer. He is widely known as the author of music for films by Andrei Tarkovsky, Andrey Konchalovskiy and Nikita Mikhalkov. Artemyev was born in Novosibirsk. He received his primary musical education at the Moscow Choir School. Later in 1960 he graduated from the Moscow Conservatory. Artemyev became widely known for his work in the cinema. He has composed music for over 150 feature films, documentaries and animated films.Father of Russian composer experimentalist and producer, Artemy Artemyev. In 2017 Artemyev was awarded by Shostakovich Prize for Contribution to the Development of World Musical Culture. Honorary Citizen of Baltimore (USA, 1988). Artemiev's music for films was recorded on the album "Territory of Love" (1998). Artemyev's melody - the main theme from the film "At home among strangers, a stranger among friends", arranged by Igor Matvienko, sounded at the closing ceremony of the Sochi Olympics. At the closing ceremony, music by Artemyev from the film "Stalker" was also used.
