Don Wilson

Don "The Dragon" Wilson is considered the greatest kick-boxing champion in the sport's history. A native of South Florida, Wilson began fighting in the late 1970s. In a career which spanned 4 decades, he won 11 world kick-boxing championships, among them the WKA, STAR, WKC, PKO Lightheavyweight World Championships, WKA, STAR, ISKA World Cruiserweight Titles, and the WKA and STAR Super-Lightheavyweight World Championships. He posted a record of 72-5-2 with 47 wins by knockout. Wilson defeated such world champions as Dennis Alexio, Oaktree Edwards, and Dick Kimber. He retired from the sport in 1990, but launched a comeback on May 14, 1999. Studied Pai Lum kung fu and Goju-ryu karate. Attended the United States Coast Guard Academy as midshipman from 1972-1973 before dropping out and earning an Associates Degree in electrical engineering at Brevard Community College in Florida. His favorite movies of his own filmography are Bloodfist (1989), Redemption (2002), and Lion Strike (1994). Inducted into the International Sports Hall of Fame in 2015. Married to Kathleen Karridene since 1996. Their children are Jonathan, Drayden and Aubrianna. Wilson defeated James Warring who was a World Kickboxing Heavyweight Champion and a Boxing World Cruiserweight Champion. Wilson defeated Maurice Smith who was both a UFC & World Kickboxing Heavyweight Champion. In a boxer vs kick-boxer match, Wilson stopped Muhammad Ali's former sparring partner, "Big" John L. Johnson in the first round. Wilson defeated "Oak Tree" Edwards who once held the World Heavyweight Kickboxing Title. Wilson was knocked out in one round by Glenn McMorris on March 5, 1980 in South Florida and lost the Florida Middleweight Kickboxing Title, it was the only knockout loss that Wilson suffered in his 27-year kickboxing career.
