Stuart Burge was born on January 15, 1918 in Brentwood, Essex, England. He was a director and producer, known for Drama 61-67 (1961), Talking Heads 2 (1998) and BBC Sunday-Night Theatre (1950). He was married to Josephine Parker. A renowned stage and pioneer television director, a single drama specialist at the BBC. A former actor, he was responsible in the 60's and 70's for elevating the Nottingham Playhouse into one of leading theatres in Britain and for rescuing London's Royal Court Theatre from bankruptcy. He directed two adaptations of William Shakespeare's play "Julius Caesar": World Theatre: Julius Caesar (1959) and Julius Caesar (1970). Michael Gough appeared in both, playing Cassius in the former and Metellus Cimber in the latter.
